I just could not limit myself with this blog entry. There were so many sweet ones of her.

She gave me 2 straight hours of play time,

never fussing,

not even once and I loved… every…. single… second of it!

so with that I will leave you with the natural beauty of a one year….

who trusts unconditionally

who loves attention

who will give a hug when asked– just because

who thinks every single thing should go through a taste test

who giggles at the silliest, little things.

Large Families ~ Montreal Family and Newborn Photographer

Far and Few between do we see large families but back in the day it was considered the norm to have 6, 7, 8 PLUS children.

Why have times changed so much, what is so different now than it was back then?

In a world with instant gratification, with literally anything at our fingertips, has this made us more lazy?

Less capable?

Less family oriented?

I know I constantly hear (and say!) how kids are just so different now, how we were outside at the crack of dawn until our parents would be yelling at us to come in. Yet our children now have to be forced to play outside and use their imagination.

But who is really at fault?

Is it us?

Is it society?

Or is this just how the world is progressing?

These are questions I constantly wonder about and would love to hear your opinions.

That being said, everyone knows we have a ton of kids in our home, and I always have a soft spot of any other large families. So when Cassie asked me to be part of her 4th baby’s arrival, I was thrilled.

A perfect addition to a perfect family.

Congrats! You are all beautiful.

Another beautiful family that I have enjoyed getting to know before this Mr. A was even born and just growing in mommy’s belly.

I seriously think I have a little crush on this sweetie, he is so charming and just so happy all the time. Always smiling.

Playful~ Montreal Family Photographer

When it’s time to blog a session, I take the overall feeling of the family, the kids, the session and this is how I get inspired as to what write. I am by no means a writer, actually my writing and spelling abilities are atrocious {don’t pretend you didn’t notice…lol} but I do write from the heart, and I hope that is what comes across {and cancels out all my grammar errors: insert big smiley face here}.

So I search for quotes, sayings, poems and I work around it and the feeling it gives me. Today, my first thoughts about this family was that they were playful…

and so I came across this description…

“Playfulness means being able to explore and to do things, for the sheer delight of doing them. It means relaxing, being spontaneous, and allowing a situation to carry you where it will. When we have a playful attitude, learning and discovery are fun, and even hard work can fly by.”

I love it.

Who knew being playful could be so good for us!

While we are here to teach our children,

I think we can learn a lot from them too.

Lets all take a break from our stressful days

from rushing

from worrying

and lets just be playful today.

Growth ~ Montreal Family Photographer/ Montreals Newborn Photographer

I am sure you must recognize this family, I have done a few sessions with them now. As you can see their second baby girl is just as beautiful as the first. Seeing ‘my babies’ (yes I feel the newborn babies I photograph are somehow mine…lol) grow makes my heart all mushy and happy. Like meeting an old friend I know every detail about since I do spend so much time analyzing, and perfecting every detail of my photos, from their tiny toes to the tips of their tiny fingers.

I am sure I sound like a broken record by now but have I told you how much I love being able to grow with my families. Not only do their children grow, but so do I- as a photographer and as a person. I look back at their previous sessions and realize just how far I have come, just how much I have grown into my art, into the photographer I strive to be.

Thank you to all my returning, loyal clients…for allowing me to grow, just as your beautiful children grow. Without every session under my belt, I would not be able to grow as a photographer, and I would not be where I am today — living my dream come true.

I think this quote pretty much sums up our feelings in regards to our children and I have always loved this one so wanted to share it.

More and more I am getting repeat clients, having their second child…it brings such joy in my heart for my families to come back to me to photograph their babies…they, in some strange way, feel like my babies…and nothing makes me happier than the chance to see them grow.

Well I was feeling the sun shining this beautiful day in the park….Thank you so much for trusting in me again, I will miss your family greatly. Enjoy this little sneak peek ~

Real Life ~ Montreal Family Photographer

I decided that rather than only posting about my wonderful sessions, I would start blogging a little about my family life.

I am constantly stressing that I value giving my clients a personalized experience. That it is one of the most important aspects of my job and my creative mind, that it is what gives me the results that I strive to get. I live for it. Not only behind my camera but I try to keep it real in all aspects of my life.

Starting now and continuing once a week, I will share a little about me and my life, my thoughts, my feelings. What better way to personalize my services than sharing some personal stuff about myself. Even the not so great stuff. I just want to keep it real.

Since I know a big camera in your face can be intimidating, and if you value photos the way I do, then you will want to know a bit about the person behind the lens, the one handling your days old baby, the one asking you if you want shots of your bare belly when you are carrying that beautiful baby.

So here goes.

My main issue is keeping up with all I have to do. Can you believe that! I swear I never have enough time to get all the things I need to get done, I do my best but sometimes(many times), yes, I feel like I am spread too thin. I am a real person, I am not a super woman. I am a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a business woman. I am expected to be so many things all at once it can get slightly overwhelming but you know what…I am just me.

I am not perfect.

I cry,

I laugh,

I scream,

I sing off key,

I sometimes forget to brush my hair before running out to bring all 5 kids to school.

I am not perfect but I have finally learnt that perfect is unrealistic. I make mistakes.

One thing you can guarantee, and I hope most people who know me would agree is that I put my heart into everything I do. This got me thinking. Though everything appears to be so perfect on the outside, things on the inside were actually falling apart.

I decided very recently, that I need to learn to better balance my time. I have been working so hard at getting this business off the ground, having babies and raising them … that somewhere along the way, the special time with my Carmine always seemed to get pushed to the back burner. I realized through our fighting, that he needs me too, and I need him. We are the foundation of our home. If we aren’t good, everyone feels it.

So this is for him. I had to share this photo of him with our youngest. As strong headed as he is, he has such a soft side and I captured it perfectly here. It is what I love so much about him.

It was so nice seeing you again, I love seeing “my” babies as they grow. I first met him as he was growing in mommy’s belly here and go to play with him when he was only days old here .

He has grown so much and into such a sweet, kind, energetic boy.
